Hmm,

It seems to me that we are imagining that integrating the gospel into our lives is an intuitive and natural act, but if you look at what both the old testament and new testament had to say about that, I don't think that we would imagine that community preceeds instruction. From being told that our ways are not His ways, to being admonished to put away childish things, there seem to be quite a number of instructions that are both prescriptive AND descriptive (not OR) and that the very process is a bit less than intuitive or organic. The very idea of repentance implies an act of will to change our minds about where we are headed and head another way. What seems to be mising from this idea of how the soul plays into "Spiritual Formation" is the idea of relating specifically to a 4 thousand year old relevant conversation called the Bible in such a way that we invite the Creator to unlock His intent and purposes for us from a launching point of His Word, then into additional wisdom. Maybe that is what you are proposing here, but it seems that the outward expression of a living faith is quickly replacing the faith itself.
